Welcome to the first of what I hope will be very many YourEly news stories.
You could say last week was an ‘astral’ week here in our wonderful city, with many of our businesses capitalising on the effects of the sun, a planet and the stars!
The stars returned to Ely Cathedral in the form of another Hollywood blockbuster Jupiter Ascending, using our famous building as an integral location to the movie. One of our businesses was visited by the film crew to ‘borrow’ a sewing machine. Lesley at Sew Much To Do reliably informs us that one of her machines is now getting the ‘star treatment’, having been used to repair some voile for the film set. Look out for Tatum Channing ladies, coming to a sewing class near you!
The sun descended on Ely last week prompting our friends at Lancaster Lodge Childcare to go forth and sow their first sunflower seeds of the year, let’s hope this is just the beginning of a thriving crop. The children had so much fun in their allotment too; we look forward to seeing photos!
In keeping with the Hollywood blockbuster theme, it is well known that on completion of a movie the film crew usually cry out “it’s a wrap!” Having returned aforementioned sewing machine to its rightful owner perhaps they should pay a visit to Tindalls. The Tindalls Team informed us that they offer a superb gift-wrapping service using exclusive papers. Their staff received training from the one and only Arona Khan who, among her clientele boasts Selfridges, Champneys, the Prime Minister’s Office and Sotherby’s New York. A star in her own right she has appeared on ITV This Morning, BBC Breakfast and The One Show and who, according to Harpers and Queen Magazine is the first ever gift-wrapping consultant! How exciting that Tindalls have these skills, we will definitely be using them!
Ely truly is a special place to live; now that is a wrap!
